I was wathing part of the new one online yesterday and it hit me. I have nearly ruined the whole series for myself and don't know if I care to watch the new one or the next one.
THE ALIEN IS THE ULTIMATE WINNER IN THE BATTLE!!!!
Think about it the first Alien movie took place in the future and the Predator movies took place in the present. Thus with the Alien being the one to survie to have the movie set in the future you allready know who the winner is.

When the first Alien vs Predator was created, it was stated to be the time in between the Predator and Alien movies.
The next AvP is going back to space.
In AvP-R, the Predator gets rid of alien bodies, any traces of them. Thus, it will still live with the original Alien movie storylines, that no aliens had been on earth before.
I think there is talk that after the next AvP, there will be a new Aliens movie, bringing back a lost colony of Predators.
